My Lighted Darkness

I can barely see my hands before me,
The slightest sound of my footsteps,
The scratch of my toe nails,
My heart punched against my rib cage.

I feared not the darkness,
Or what lurked within,
But the uncertainty,
Of what my 'morrow brings.

My next small step,
Was my leap of hope,
Towards the end of my room,
Onto the small beam of light.

In my darkness,
That was a small light,
Which gave me not just hope,
But my extra boost of confidence.

It did not just appear,
But I had to take my steps,
That walk in uncertainty,
Discovers my ray of hope.

I can only walk towards my light,
In all my darkness,
It shines like the morning sun,
Breaking through; leading me.

That small light I can only but follow;
To brave my fears,
And keep my course,
In my Lighted darkness.
